Thursday

Orange and black

This was a spur of the moment look. It was quick and easy.  I like to match my looks with my outfit.

I'm one of those people who waits until the morning to know what to wear. I look at the weather channel and dress accordingly.

The lipstick has become my new favorite. WetnWild is inexpensive. The persimmons is  a nice orange for me.

Friday

It was nice outside

I decided to put on a full face of Revlon Colorstay. It definitely has full coverage. I know now that look doesn't sit well with me. I don't need full coverage unless I'm going to do some sort of photoshoot. I ended up taking some of it off for a medium coverage. I was told I look plastic. Yea. I won't do the full face foundation with Revlon again. I usually just use it to touch up my looks. I will stick to that or full face with my Nars.

Tuesday

Favorite color day

Here's another look with my favorite makeup color. I added the lip colir this time.

Learning your eyes

The first lesson I had to learn is you can't do what other people do. When you put on eye shadow you have do it according to you eyes. Different people have different shaped eyes. That means you have to do different things when you apply the shadow. I have deep set, wide, hooded eyes. I can't do a lot of looks that other people do without looking crazy. LOL!

You have to learn what works best for your eyes. Here is a video that shows a little about finding and figuring out where things are on your eye. I love watching his videos.

Gold: Blue or Green

I've been trying out some colors lately to see what works well. Part of doing makeup is understanding how colors work in order to blend them.... here is my blue vs green when mixed with gold. I don't know but my boyfriend prefers the green what do you think?

Here is the blue side. I used  the Wet n Wild palette "I Got Good Jeans." I went over the top of the gold with the Mehron metallic gold pigment. I mixed in some of the blue from the SugarPill Sweetheart palette to make it a true blue color.

Here is the green side. I used the same golds for this side but I opted for the Coastal Scents 88 palette for the greens. I mixed in some of the green from the SugarPill Sweetheart palette

No to Car makeup application

In class discussion yesterday, one of my students commented on the idea of women applying makeup in the car. This is such a dangerous idea. There are hundred of car accidents caused each year from women still doing it knowing the consequences.

Makeup is not that serious. Never put on makeup while actually driving. I have applied lipstick when stuck at a red light. Nothing else is really necessary.

My looks aren't so serious that I would apply anything  while driving down the street. If I need to put on makeup, I get up a lot earlier in the morning.

Watch the NikkieTutorials video below to see why.

My new lip secret...

I talk for a living. It is always a battle to find a way to keep your lipstick not looking a hot mess. I found one way to keep my lips looking luscious without having that super matte look.

1. Moisturize your lips. (I use EOS - lemon)

2. I learned that you have to allow the moisturizer to set before applying anything else and sometimes I even blot the extra oil off.

3. Lip pencil in color of choice.

4. My secret ingredient... Nyx Soft Matte lip creams  - These work magic on top of a lip pencil to make an immovable layer of color under my lipstick. It is freaking great! Let it set before beginning the next step.

5. Lipstick (If you use the Wet n Wild matte lipstick it will come out like a paint stain for the lips... 16 HR wear)

I bought a $25 certificate on Social Goodies. You pay $25 for $50 worth of products. I think I ordered every color I could. I will try to do some looks with this.

Friday

New foundation

I decided I need foundation. The water in Texas bites. My skin is red and irritated looking. I thought it was just a tan at first. I was reading about redness on the face and the article described my redness perfectly.
I recently visited a CCO and decided to try some Bobbi Brown foundation. I REALLY believe that more expensive makeup does a better job if you find the right shade. I can't find the right MAC shades... either too dark or too light.... But I think I love my Bobbi Brown foundation.

Monday

Social Goodies

I like sites like Social Goodies. It create discounts similar to groupon. I've been watching them because they are the only site that sales discounted product for NYX (on the site it says you pronounce it "nicks" but I always want to say N. Y. X.)

I love using the lip creams. I use them on my lips the way you would use primer/pots on the eyes. I need some more colors because I just have a few. This would be a great way to get what I want for 50% off. YES! Who isn't a sucker for a bargain.

I need some more colors to add to my minor collection. It creates an awesome base! I'll have to do a tutorial on that one. I really wanted to get their version of Urban Decay's Naked palette. Lord knows I refuse to spend $50 on eyeshadows.

Friday

I found some online sales!

I hate getting out into that dreadful crowd. I know I'm not the only one. I read about the down-side to Black Friday on Yahoo.com well after I decided not to join the crowd. I'm just not much of the people person to get out into the crowd and fight with people over things that aren't that serious in my life.
But... I found a couple of sales I could live with for the moment (meaning until I have more money). I got online and found that TwoFaced cosmetics had a sale right up my alley -- things that are $10 or less, lol. I also found a new (new to me that is) cosmetic company that is organic.  They have some really neat looking cosmetics and some shadows for $3. Definitely worth check out the shadows since they are so inexpensive. Then I think I'll be done for the moment. I have bills to pay and the bills come before the pleasure.
